Korra Aput - Sixteen - Legend of Korra - Naomi Scott

Korra Aput was born and raised in the upper region of Alaska, her parents decided late in her sophmore year that Ringarose High would be a good place for her to finish her education, especially because she had been getting into some trouble around the small town she lived in. Her uncle Tenzin lived in town where she stayed over the summer to get acquainted with the area. He wasn’t all that thrilled to have to put up with his spirited niece who had a penchant for getting into trouble and causing small riots everywhere she went. But he loved her all the same and was alright with her stay.

Korra isn’t a very good student. This is a known fact, she cannot sit still for the life her and is forever on the go and exploring. Being new to regular civilization she can be slow when it comes to fads. Alaska really isn’t on the up and take when your town has all put 1,098 people in it. She’s however rather excitable and can be overbearing, loud and overall happy. She is best-friends with Mako and Bolin Huang, two twin brothers in her class. But Mako and Bolin are also friends with Asami Sato, whom she’s at odds with, but she’d found common ground with the girl over sports.

What Korra really loves is sports, she’s very athletic. A jock at heart she has all the cockiness of an athlete that knows she’s good, something she doesn’t downplay. She’s flamboyant about her athletic ability and isn’t above showing off and being just as arrogant as the boys about her toned body. She has played almost every sport under the sun but was back home a hockey player and kayak racer, both of which she’s found doesn’t exist down in the states. Needless to say the loss of both of her best and favorite sports has been a bit of a downer on her. She is a little homesick but she’s been fine with the change so far.

When the word came out that the principal was missing she was immediately suspicious. Having a natural curiousness she began looking into what was going on. She did a little investigating and found that the teachers have been getting notes from whoever was behind this, Mako keeps telling her to keep to her studies, Asami just rolls her eyes and Bolin is the only one that is all for some snooping.

Korra is a generally good-natured girl, small town with a big heart and a natural curiosity. Her cockiness and aggressiveness can get in her way since she can be overbearing. But she doesn’t mind…maybe.

Mako Huang - Seventeen - Legend of Korra - Nico Tortorella

Mako is and forever will be a voice of reason. He’s cool and calm, as compared with his more exuberant twin brother Bolin he is more level-headed and responsible. Born the elder of two twins to a Caucasian mother and Vietnamese Dad, he’s always given weird looks when he says his last name. He’s learned to stop caring about it, since he’s got better things to do after the death of his mother and the way his Dad ran out on them. He’s taken the responsibility of a parent, working two jobs since he was 14. Getting his brother to school on time, making the rent, making food, getting clothes. Things he shouldn’t worry about but does. His only outlet was going to the gym where he boxed. He boxed at the local gym the ‘Fire Ferret Gym’, the owner Toza was worried about a fifteen year old kid boxing all hours of the night and went investigating.

That’s when he found out about the Huang brothers. He took them in, letting them live in the small flat above the gym, all they had to do was work the gym over the weekends, washing the floor, lugging equipment and doing general work, in exchange Toza gave them a roof over their heads and food. Toza then called a scout to come the gym, he was the athletic director at Ringarose High looking for new talent. Toza called him there to watch Mako box and Bolin wrestle. Impressed by the two brothers talents he offered them a scholarship where they’d board at the school and join the boxing and wrestling teams. The boys immediately took the scholarship. They go by every weekend though to work Toza’s, they wouldn’t forget the old mans kindness toward them.

Mako is a good student excelling in maths and sciences, he isn’t a very good essay writer but he works hard knowing that his boxing will only take him so far. He hopes for a college scholarship in the sport, but knows it’s a long shot. He’s close with his brother Bolin as well as his friend Asami Sato and Korra Aput. He’s considered a ‘heart-throb’ by girls of the school but is very put off of their advances. He isn’t one for parties and is very quiet and studious, preferring to sit in his room and read than go out and drink all night, knowing that the partying could get him in trouble with this school and lose his scholarship.

When Mako heard about the principle’s disappearance he wasn’t all that concerned  Growing up in the seedier part of town he was pretty used to weird things happening. Disappearances  muggings, shootings and deaths were all common to him, as much as he didn’t want to admit it. He just would prefer to leave it all up to the authorities, but Korra over here wants to go and investigate. Mako was not about to do that, he couldn’t lose his scholarship and one and only chance at becoming something worth while in his life.
